A young and dynamic teenager who always believed in himself and wanted to be a businessman became a very successful entrepreneur in a short span of time with sheer hard work and dedication. Still in his twenties, he was running a multi million rupees business with a chain of retail and wholesale establishments. In spite of all the achievements, somewhere deep within, he was yearning to serve the community. Propelled by the intense desire to fulfill his mother's wish, Sri S M Venkatpathi founded
M G Charitable trust in memory of his parents Sri Muniswamappa and Smt Gowramma in the year 1997. Under the aegis of MG Charitable trust, several Educational Institutions covering primary, secondary and higher education have been established. The main objectives of the trust are providing high quality education in science, technology, management, health care and other fields to develop highly empowered human resource that would contribute to the society at large. The trust also aims at contributions to the society through out reach and service activities.
The trust started East Point School in the year 1998 and subsequently East Point College of Engineering and Technology was started in 1999. Today, M G Charitable trust has a total of nine institutions, which includes Engineering, Management, Higher education, Pharmacy and Nursing. The total student strength is in excess of six thousand. Over the last decade, 'East Point' has emerged as a premier brand in the higher education space, known for its commitment, quality and excellence. Major strength of the group is its Intellectual capital, vast experience in education, training, research and business perspectives, excellent infrastructure, spacious campus and well established practices.
East Point InfoTech is a registered company on campus which provides opportunities for the students to earn while learning. Presently BPO operations are catering to American and European clients. It is proposed to start Engineering and K P O services shortly. East Point alumni are placed in various multinational and prestigious national companies and over the years, they have earned a good reputation through their dedicated and meritorious work in the respective fields. Many students pursue post graduate and research programmes in India as well as abroad.

Having gained valuable experience over the last twelve years, the group is well positioned to venture into Health care education and services, Greater industry interaction, Social sciences and Community services. Projects related to these areas are on the anvil. Sustainability, Growth and Higher quality are the hall mark of East Point Group in the next decade.
