How To Keep Yourself Motivated and Study Well for Exams?
Our years as students are the most important ones in life. It not only shapes our career, but it also gives direction to the rest of our life. What we learn as students will always remain with us. To get the most out of this phase, it is needless to say that we need to study and learn as much as possible.
Being a student, we face a lot of challenges- the burden of expectations, student loans and a lot of distractions, especially due to digitalization. And of course, you have to constantly listen to lines like “Life is a race, if you don't run fast you'll get trampled”, which in most cases, does more harm than good.
Let’s be honest, all of us want to score good marks in exams, irrespective of whether we are first-benchers or last-benchers. For some, it’s a walk in the park. But for the rest of us, it is not easy at all. We’d rather watch one more youtube video, or spend time on social media or socializing. One of the reasons for this is that most of us lack the motivation to consistently put in the effort.
It’s important to realize that a good academic career can take you places. It can transform our lives and make it colorful. It opens up a variety of opportunities for us, and this is the undeniable truth. So you might as well give it your best shot.
Thankfully, there are a few simple techniques that will help you feel motivated to study harder and better. Here are some techniques to keep yourself motivated:
Have a pep-talk:
Having the right mindset is paramount for success.
Talk to yourself. Reflect on why a good academic career is important for you and motivate yourself to work hard consistently to achieve your dreams.
Goal Setting Theory
Tasks that require more time to complete can be demotivating because they seem big. Break your study time into small achievable targets, and make these targets realistic and challenging. It will keep the end in sight and will push you to achieve more each day.
Create a time-table:
Manage Your Time Well
It will help you in strategizing and planning better for exams. Hang/paste your time-table on a wall, as it will serve as a tangible reminder of your end-goals.
Organize your study space:
Create an organised productive space.
It is very important to keep your study space clean and free. It’s amazing how the environment and space around you can affect your mind. A decluttered space is a sign of a decluttered mind. So clean your study space and have everything you need within your reach.
Brilliant ways to reward yourself.
Every time you achieve a target, give yourself a treat and appreciate your efforts. Have a cookie or get some leisure time. This will motivate you subconsciously to achieve more targets.
