With the VTU exams fast-approaching, there are a lot of students out there who will be feeling the heat.
Today we’ll talk about strategies and tips for scoring 80+ percentage in VTU exams, no matter which stream or branch you have opted for.
VTU exams, as you might suspect, are very tricky and unpredictable. While sometimes, merely going over previous years’ question papers can fetch you good marks, there are times when you’ll go over the entire notes and the question paper will leave you praying to god for passing marks.
This article seeks to provide a guide on a sure shot way scoring 80 plus in VTU exams.
Let us first understand the marks distribution using the table below.
IA Marks- 160 [6 x 20 (theory) + 2 x 20 (practicals)]
External Labs- 160 [2 x 80]
External Theory- 480 [6 x 80]
To score 80 (A grade), you need to score 640 out of a maximum of 800 marks. This might look like an oversimplification of a tough task, but if you understand and follow the tips below, it shouldn’t be that difficult.
Firstly, begin by breaking down the marks.
Well begun is half done. Score more than 16 marks in each of your IA, which equals 128 marks out of 160.
Now let's come to externals. Score 64 marks or more in each of your external papers, including laboratory exams, and you will be well past the line.
As simple as it may sound, we all know that it is not at all easy to do it. Now the question is, how to do it.
Tips to score 80+ in VTU examinations
Go through past 5 years question papers in each subject. By doing this, you have covered up 50-60% of the marks weightage of the question paper.
Cover 3 modules completely and study the most important questions of the other 2 modules. This way you will surely cover around 80% of the questions paper’s weightage.
Next, try to learn and practice all the problems in a subject, as you can score full marks by solving problems, as compared to theoretical answers, where full marks are not guaranteed.
Try to score full marks in internal assessment and lab examination. This way you can afford to lose a few marks in theory exams
Write neatly and underline the important points. No invigilator reads each and every point of the answer. So make sure you make the important points more prominent.
Before beginning to answer, take 10 minutes and fully understand all the questions, this way you will get an idea as to how to approach the paper.
Lastly, stay calm. Avoid last-minute studies as it leads to confusion.
Follow the above techniques & tips and you will invariably end up scoring 80+.
