ONE STUDENT ONE TREE - INITIATIVE BY AICTE
Hon’ble HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “NISHANK” has launched a campaign “ONE STUDENT ONE TREE” on 20 th july 2019. The initiative is in line with the Hon’ble prime minister idea of green and healthy environment. Estimated on the basis of NASA satellite images, the data comes from global forest watch and it is said
that Karnataka has lost more than 30,000 ha of forest.
Deforestation and forest degradation are the biggest threats to forests worldwide. As instructed by the Principal of EPCET Dr. Prakash and HOD, Civil Engineering Dr. Ashok Biradar we collectively decided to undertake this initiative to contribute towards mother earth as a responsible citizen.
The event started on 13 th Aug 2019 with a procession initiated by the NSS Officer Mr. Nikesh Jain along with the coordinators in order to make the students understand the significance of planting trees. And on 14 th Aug 2019 NSS Officer along with the coordinators made the students to gather with their saplings and the crowd was addressed by our respective Principal Dr. Prakash followed by this the students were directed to different locations inside the campus to plant the saplings henceforth the NSS Unit of EPCET has successfully completed planting 300 number of healthy saplings in the college campus.
