Master of Physiotherapy - Pediatrics

Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Paediatrics is a two-year postgraduate program dedicated to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of movement disorders in infants, children, and adolescents. The curriculum encompasses child development, pediatric neurophysiology, and musculoskeletal growth patterns.

The program addresses rehabilitation techniques for conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, and developmental delays. Advanced therapies covered include neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT), sensory integration, gait training, and aquatic therapy.

Specialized interventions encompass respiratory physiotherapy for cystic fibrosis, early intervention programs, and orthotic management. The curriculum also emphasizes play therapy, postural correction, and adaptive sports. Proficiency in pediatric assessments, parental education, and multidisciplinary teamwork is integral to the program.

Hands-on training in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), schools, and rehabilitation centers enhances practical skills. The program also incorporates research methodology and evidence-based practice to guide clinical decision-making. Upon completion, graduates are equipped to improve motor function, independence, and overall quality of life in children with physical and neurological impairments.

Eligibility : *

* As notified by the Government of Karnataka, RGUHS and IAP from time to time.

  • Candidates with a B.Sc. (PT) or BPT degree (3 ½ or 4 ½ years full-time) from a recognized university in India or abroad, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 6 months compulsory rotating internship from an RGUHS-recognized Physiotherapy College. Obtain Eligibility certificate issued by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
